Deliveroo Ireland Rider Support

What does Deliveroo’s rider insurance cover?

As a Deliveroo rider, you are covered by Deliveroo’s insurance while completing deliveries with Deliveroo, subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions.

Cover applies from the moment you accept a delivery request in the Deliveroo app until the delivery is completed or cancelled, plus 15 minutes after completion or cancellation.

Rider accident insurance

Rider accident insurance covers eligible riders and substitute riders while working during the covered delivery period.

The policy may provide benefits if you are injured in a covered accident while providing services to Deliveroo, including support if you are temporarily unable to work, as well as lump sum payments for certain serious injuries.

Subject to the policy terms, the cover may include accidental death, permanent disablement, accident medical expenses, dental expenses, funeral expenses, hospitalisation benefit, and temporary total disablement due to accident. This insurance covers you and anyone working using your account as a substitute.

Rider public liability

Rider public liability insurance may provide protection if you cause injury to someone else or damage someone else’s property while working with Deliveroo, subject to the applicable policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions.

This cover applies to eligible riders and substitutes while carrying out delivery services through the Deliveroo platform.

Public liability cover is separate from rider accident insurance. Rider accident insurance may support you if you are injured while working. Public liability insurance is intended to respond where a third party makes a claim against you for injury or property damage. This insurance covers you and anyone working using your account as a substitute.

Earnings support for illness

Riders regularly providing services to Deliveroo may also be eligible for earnings support if they are unwell and medically certified by a doctor as unable to work.

If your claim is accepted, you may receive 75% of your average daily earnings with Deliveroo, up to a maximum of €50 per day. Your average daily earnings are calculated based on your earnings with Deliveroo in the 60 days before your illness started.

This support is available if you have completed at least 30 deliveries in the 8 weeks before your illness started, and you are medically certified as unfit to work due to illness for more than 7 days.

You can claim illness earnings support for up to 30 days, subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions

New parent payment

New parents who work regularly with Deliveroo may be able to claim a one-off payment to help with loss of earnings and additional expenses when they become a new parent through the birth, stillbirth or adoption of a child.

The amount you may receive depends on how many deliveries you completed in the 6 months before the birth, stillbirth or adoption of your child.

If you are the birthing parent, you may be eligible for:

  • €250 if you completed more than 175 deliveries
  • €500 if you completed more than 350 deliveries
  • €1,000 if you completed more than 700 deliveries

If you are a non-birthing parent or adoptive parent, you may be eligible for:

  • €250 if you completed more than 250 deliveries
  • €500 if you completed more than 500 deliveries
  • €1,000 if you completed more than 1,000 deliveries

This benefit is subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions.

What's not covered?

Deliveroo rider insurance does not replace any vehicle insurance you are required to have by law. If you use a car, scooter, motorbike or other vehicle to complete deliveries, you are responsible for making sure you have the correct insurance for that vehicle.

Your own vehicle, personal belongings and items of kit are not covered by this insurance if they are lost, stolen or damaged.

You are also not covered when you are offline, when you are not carrying out delivery services through the Deliveroo platform, or when the incident happens outside the covered delivery period.

The policy also includes other exclusions and limits, so any claim will be assessed against the applicable policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions.
